The Space Collaborative will expand degree programs, train students through hands‑on missions, and build partnerships with industry and government. Together, these efforts will strengthen Virginia’s space economy and prepare a diverse workforce for a rapidly growing sector.
Our Purpose
Space is not one discipline. The collaboration brings together expertise from across George Mason University to create new opportunities for discovery, interdisciplinary research, hands-on learning and partnership.

Connect faculty, students, and partners across disciplines; support the development of new missions and research teams; and help more students find a route into the space ecosystem.
What We Are Building
George Mason University will design and launch small satellites that generate data for climate forecasting, disaster preparation, infrastructure protection and scientific discovery, while expanding degree and training programs.
